Cranberry Mint Fizz

Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 12 g fresh mint leaves plus 2 small sprigs for garnish
  • 15 ml lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 10 ml maple syrup
  • 240 ml cranberry juice chilled
  • 180 g ice
  • 240 ml sparkling water well chilled
  • 4 g fresh mint leaves plus 2 small sprigs for garnish
  • 2 each lime wheel for garnish

Instructions

  1. Divide the mint: reserve 2 small sprigs for garnish and use the remaining leaves for the drink. Add the mint leaves, lime juice, and maple syrup to a small pitcher and muddle gently for 10 to 15 seconds until the mint is fragrant but not shredded. The pitcher smells minty and the leaves look bruised, not torn apart.
  2. Add the cranberry juice and stir once or twice to combine. The mixture is evenly colored and the syrup is fully dissolved.
  3. Fill each glass with 90 g ice. Pour in half of the cranberry mixture, then top each glass with 120 ml sparkling water. The drinks are cold, fizzy, and about three-quarters full after the sparkle settles.
  4. Stir each glass briefly from the bottom to combine without losing too much carbonation. Garnish with the reserved mint sprigs and, if using, a lime wheel on each glass. The garnish is upright and the drink tastes balanced between tart, sweet, and minty.
