Ingredients
- 500 ml Water divided
- 20 g Fresh ginger peeled and thinly sliced
- 10 g Fresh turmeric peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 g Fine salt none
- 4 g Black tea loose leaf or 2 tea bags
- 100 ml Water divided
- 20 g Honey none
- 15 ml Fresh lemon juice freshly squeezed
Instructions
- Add 500 ml of the water, the sliced ginger, sliced turmeric, and the salt, if using, to a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then simmer for 5 minutes. The liquid is fragrant and lightly golden, and the ginger is softened.
- Remove the pan from the heat. Add the black tea and the remaining 100 ml water, then steep for 3 minutes. The tea is dark and aromatic, without a bitter edge.
- Strain into a heatproof measuring cup or directly into 2 mugs. Stir in the honey and lemon juice. The honey is fully dissolved and the drink tastes balanced, spicy, and bright.
- Serve immediately while hot. Steam rises from the mugs and the tea is ready to drink.
