Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 0.33 cup flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1 cup medium-sharp cheddar
- 1 cup Monterey Jack
- 1 cup smoked gouda
- 1 cup gruyère
- 0.5 cup Parmesan
- 1 pound pasta
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, melt 6 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
- Add your preferred seasonings to the melted butter and toast them until fragrant.
- Sprinkle 1/3 cup of flour into the butter, stirring constantly to create a roux. Cook the flour long enough to eliminate the raw taste, about 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in milk, ensuring there are no lumps, until the mixture thickens.
- Remove the pot from heat and slowly add your shredded cheese blend, stirring until smooth. Use a mix of medium-sharp cheddar, Monterey Jack, smoked gouda, gruyère, and Parmesan.
- Cook your pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the cheese sauce, stirring to coat evenly.
- Transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
- Let the mac and cheese cool slightly before serving.
