Apple & Blackberry Crumble

A delicious crumble made with a mix of spelt flour, ground almonds, and oats, filled with apples, blackberries, and walnuts. This crumble is part chewy, part melt in your mouth, part cakey.

Apple & Blackberry Crumble

Ingredients

  • 750 g Bramley cooking apples
  • 300 g blackberries
  • 75 g walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 150 g spelt flour
  • 75 g porridge oats
  • 75 g ground almonds
  • 6 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 pinch sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C fan / 320°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the Bramley cooking apples, blackberries, walnuts, coconut sugar and ground cinnamon.
  3. Transfer the fruit mixture to a medium baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, sift in the spelt flour, then mix with the oats, ground almonds, coconut sugar, olive oil, 3 tablespoons of water and a pinch of sea salt to form a rough crumble.
  5. Scatter the crumble mixture over the fruit.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbling. The apples should be soft and collapsing.
  7. Leave to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
