Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 0.25 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 apples, finely diced
- 0.25 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
- 0.25 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 0 cream cheese filling
- 0 apple pie filling
- 25 wonton wrappers
- 0 water
- 2 cups vegetable or canola oil
- 0 wontons
- 0 cinnamon sugar
- 0 caramel sauce
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Refrigerate while you make the apple pie filling.
- In a large pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add diced apples and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add in brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and water. Continue to cook until the apples are soft and a sauce forms. Remove from the heat and transfer to a bowl.
- To make the cinnamon sugar, combine the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.
- To assemble, place about 1 teaspoon of cream cheese filling and 1 teaspoon of apple pie filling in the center of a wonton wrapper.
- Wet all 4 sides with water and fold the wrapper diagonally. Bring in the remaining 2 sides, making sure there are no holes to prevent the filling from spilling out. Repeat with all the wonton wrappers.
- In a medium pot, heat the oil until it reaches 350°F (180°C).
- Drop in the wontons in small batches to not crowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 4 minutes.
- Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat until all the wontons are fried.
- Dip in cinnamon sugar and serve with caramel sauce. Enjoy immediately!
