Ingredients
- 130 g unsalted butter
- 0.5 cup light brown sugar
- 0.25 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 160 g all-purpose flour
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 120 g chocolate chips/chunks
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter
- 120 g semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 0.25 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 2 large eggs
- 0.75 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 60 g chocolate chunks/chips
- 0 brownie batter
- 0 cookie dough
- 0 chocolate buttons/chunks
Instructions
- Brown the butter until golden and nutty.
- Cool slightly, then mix with both sugars, egg and vanilla.
- Add flour, baking soda and salt. Fold in chocolate to your liking.
- For the brownie, melt butter with 120 g chocolate.
- Stir in cocoa and oil.
- Separately whisk eggs and sugar for 3–4 minutes until pale and foamy.
- Add vanilla and melted chocolate mixture, then gently fold in flour, salt and extra chocolate if desired.
- Spread half the brownie batter into the pan. Add small pieces of cookie dough, remaining brownie batter, then larger cookie pieces on top.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–36 minutes. The edges should be set, the cookie lightly golden, and a toothpick inserted into the brownie should have moist crumbs, not wet batter.
- Cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Add chocolate buttons/chunks on top while warm for extra melty chocolate.
