Cook time: 45 minutes

Servings: 9

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets pastry dough homemade or store-bought
  • 0 for dusting flour
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg large, mixed with 2 teaspoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 0.75 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0 dash ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out both portions of the pastry dough on a floured surface to a 1/8-inch thickness. Cut each into nine rectangles.
  3. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour until well combined.
  4. Brush each rectangle of dough with egg wash to serve as glue for sealing.
  5. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture onto each rectangle. Cover with another rectangle and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
  6. Poke holes in the tops of each tart with a toothpick or fork to allow steam to escape.
  7. Brush the tops with egg wash and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For the glaze, mix confectioners’ sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, vanilla extract, and a dash of cinnamon until smooth and spreadable.
  9. Let the pop tarts cool slightly before spooning the glaze on top. Allow the glaze to set before serving.
