Bananas Foster French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 pack King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sweet cream coffee creamer
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 0 for the skillet Butter
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0.67 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp dark rum
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 bananas
  • 0 for topping chopped pecans
  • 0 for garnish powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Tear the King's Hawaiian rolls apart and set aside.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, sweet cream coffee creamer, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  3. Roll each piece of bread in the batter. Cook in a buttered skillet over medium heat until golden on all sides. Set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the unsalted butter and stir in the dark brown sugar until smooth.
  5. Add the dark rum (optional) and carefully flambé, or let it simmer to cook off the alcohol.
  6. Stir in the ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sliced bananas. Cook until the bananas are soft and the sauce is thick.
  7. Spoon the sauce over the French toast.
  8. Top with chopped pecans and powdered sugar.
