Apple Pie Banana Pudding

Ingredients

  • 5 pieces apples
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 0.5 lemon lemon juice
  • 5 pieces apples
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 boxes vanilla instant pudding
  • 9 cups cold milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 spoonfuls apple juice
  • 1.5 cups whipped topping
  • 2 packs Chessman cookies
  • 1 to taste crushed vanilla wafers
  • 1 to taste caramel drizzle

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice 5–8 apples, preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  2. In a large pan, melt 2 sticks of butter over medium heat.
  3. Add 1 cup of brown sugar and 1½ teaspoons of cinnamon to the melted butter and stir until combined.
  4. Squeeze the juice of ½ lemon into the mixture and stir.
  5. Add the sliced apples to the pan and cook until they are tender.
  6. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water, then add to the apple mixture to thicken.
  7. Prepare 2–3 boxes of vanilla instant pudding with 9 cups of cold milk as per package instructions.
  8. Mix ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and 2–3 spoonfuls of apple juice from the cooked apples into the pudding.
  9. Fold 1½ cups of whipped topping into the pudding mixture.
  10. In a serving dish, layer 2–3 packs of Chessman cookies, followed by a layer of the apple mixture, then the pudding mixture. Repeat layers as desired.
  11. Top with crushed vanilla wafers and drizzle with caramel.
