Crispy Tuna Rice Bites

Deliciously crispy rice squares topped with spicy tuna and avocado, perfect for appetizers or snacks.

Crispy Tuna Rice Bites

Cook time: 30 minutes

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sushi rice
  • 3 cups water as needed for cooking rice
  • 2 TBSP rice vinegar
  • 2 TBSP maple syrup
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 pound sushi grade tuna
  • 0.33 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 TBSP sriracha
  • 0 neutral oil enough to fill the pan about ½ inch
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 jalapeno
  • 0 soy sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cook the sushi rice according to the package instructions.
  2. Once the rice is cooked, stir in rice vinegar, maple syrup, and salt.
  3. Line an 8x8 baking pan with plastic wrap and spread the rice evenly. Flatten with a spatula.
  4. Freeze the rice for at least 8 hours or overnight until completely hard.
  5. Cut sushi-grade tuna into small cubes and mix with mayonnaise and sriracha.
  6. Remove the rice from the freezer and cut into squares.
  7. Pour neutral oil into a pan to a depth of about ½ inch and heat it up.
  8. Carefully fry the rice squares until golden brown on each side and drain on paper towels.
  9. Thinly slice avocado and jalapeno.
  10. Top each fried rice square with a slice of avocado, a scoop of tuna mixture, and a slice of jalapeno. Serve with soy sauce on the side.
