Ingredients
- 12 rolls King's Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls
- 1.5 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 0.75 cup sugar
- 0.25 cup butter unsalted, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 cup butter melted
- 0.5 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 0.75 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Let the King's Hawaiians Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls dry out slightly, then cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- Combine milk, cream, sugar, butter, eggs, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and salt in a saucepan. Stir gently to break down the eggs, then cook on low heat until the butter is melted. Do not thicken the mixture.
- Prepare the cinnamon sugar filling by mixing melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt together.
- Assemble the bread pudding by layering half of the roll pieces in a greased springform pan. Pour over half of the custard mixture, ensuring all pieces are soaked, and then spread half of the cinnamon sugar filling on top.
- Repeat the layering process for the second half. For a cinnamon roll look, arrange the rolls in a circular pattern and pipe the cinnamon sugar filling in a spiral.
- Bake the bread pudding in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
- While the bread pudding bakes, prepare the cream cheese icing by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, and a little milk until smooth.
- Serve the bread pudding warm with a drizzle of cream cheese icing. Enjoy your cozy dessert experience.
