Biscuits And Gravy Bake

Cook time: 70 minutes

Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 0 cooking spray
  • 2 16.3-oz cans refrigerated biscuits
  • 2 lb Italian sausage
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 5 cups whole milk
  • 0 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 0 kosher salt
  • 0 freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0 freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp thinly sliced chives

Instructions

  1. Arrange a rack in the center of the oven; preheat to 375°F. Grease a 13" x 9" baking dish with cooking spray. Cut biscuits into quarters and arrange half in the prepared pan.
  2. Bake biscuits until golden, 12 to 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage, breaking up meat with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 6 minutes.
  4. Add flour and cook, stirring, until just slightly darkened, about 1 minute more.
  5. Add milk and cayenne; season with salt and black pepper and whisk to combine.
  6. Bring gravy to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 3 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and pour gravy over par-baked biscuits. Top with remaining biscuits.
  8. Brush biscuits with butter; season with black pepper.
  9. Continue to bake until golden and cooked through, 20 to 25 minutes.
  10. Top with chives.
