Soy & Garlic Steak Rice Bowl

A fresh meal featuring soy and garlic marinated steak served with sticky rice and a spicy cucumber salad.

Soy & Garlic Steak Rice Bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 225g steaks
  • 1 whole cucumber
  • 0.5 whole red onion
  • 3 tablespoons kewpie mayo
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black sesame seeds
  • 1 serving jasmine rice

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, ginger paste, brown sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Add the steaks to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Remove the steaks from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.
  4. Heat a pan to high heat for a few minutes, then reduce to medium heat and add the steaks.
  5. Cook the steaks for 2 minutes on each side for medium rare. Remove from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  6. While the steak is resting, mix all the cucumber salad ingredients together in a bowl.
  7. Slice the rested steak.
  8. Serve the sliced steak with jasmine rice and the cucumber salad.
