Creamy Gochujang Pasta

Creamy Gochujang Pasta

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fusilli pasta
  • 0.25 cup water reserved pasta water
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 0.5 shallot diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang paste
  • 0.25 cup water reserved pasta water
  • 0.67 cups heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 8 ounces fusilli pasta cooked
  • 0 furikake for garnish
  • 0 parmesan cheese additional for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add diced shallot and minced garlic. Sauté for 3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the gochujang paste and continue to cook for another minute until the paste deepens in color.
  4. Mix in the reserved pasta water until the sauce is smooth. Bring it to a simmer.
  5. Slowly stir in the heavy cream and simmer for 2 minutes. Add parmesan cheese and simmer until the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat thoroughly.
  7. Garnish with furikake and additional parmesan cheese before serving.
