Loco Moco
A Hawaiian comfort dish consisting of jasmine rice topped with a juicy beef patty, umami-rich onion and mushroom gravy, a perfectly fried egg, and garnished with chives. Perfect for a cozy meal.

Ingredients
- 2 cups jasmine rice uncooked
- 4 cups water for cooking rice
- 1 pound ground beef
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 0.5 cup onion minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup onion sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms sliced
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 4 large egg
- 2 tablespoons chives chopped
Instructions
- Cook the jasmine rice according to package instructions.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, minced onion, salt, and pepper. Mix to combine and shape into patties.
- Fry the patties in olive oil over medium-high heat until golden brown. Set them aside.
- In the same pan, add butter and sauté onions and mushrooms until soft. Stir in flour, then add beef broth to make the gravy. Let it simmer until thickened.
- Fry eggs to your liking in a second pan.
- Assemble the Loco Moco by placing the rice on plates, adding the patty on top, followed by the gravy and then the eggs. Garnish with chopped chives and serve.
