Ingredients
- 8 oz pasta spaghetti
- 0 tsp salt to taste
- 0 cups water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 large onion thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 0 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp chili crisp
- 1 tbsp soy sauce optional
- 1 cup coconut milk or heavy cream, room temperature
- 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese grated
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set pasta aside.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp butter over medium-low heat.
- Add the thinly sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook slowly for about 12–15 minutes, stirring often, until onions are soft and deeply golden. (Lower the heat if they start to brown too quickly.)
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and chili crisp. Stir well to combine.
- Add 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional) to deepen the flavor and lightly deglaze the pan.
- Pour in the cream or coconut milk and stir gently to combine. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy.
- Add the cooked spaghetti and toss everything together, adding a splash of reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce and help it coat the spaghetti.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
