Brown Butter Matcha Brookies

Ingredients
- 0 parchment paper for lining
- 120 grams butter unsalted
- 50 grams brown sugar
- 50 grams caster sugar
- 1 egg large
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 150 grams all-purpose flour
- 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 200 grams dark chocolate chips
- 12 grams MATCHAMELIER premium powder
- 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 120 grams white chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt 120g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 50g brown sugar and 50g caster sugar with the browned butter. Stir until well mixed.
- Add 1 large egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract to the mixture and mix until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together 150g all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1/2 tsp salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Stir in 200g dark chocolate chips.
- Repeat steps 2 to 5 with matcha layer ingredients: 60g (1/4 cup) butter, 50g brown sugar, 50g caster sugar, 1 large egg, 1 tsp vanilla, 120g all-purpose flour, 12g MATCHAMELIER premium powder, and 1/2 tsp baking powder.
- Layer the chocolate chip dough and matcha dough alternately in the prepared pan. Optional: Add white chocolate chunks or nuts over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
