Campfire Monkey Bread

A classic Boy Scout recipe, this Monkey Bread is loved for its simplicity and deliciousness. This is a campfire adaptation in a foil pack version.

Campfire Monkey Bread

Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 16.3 ounce flaky biscuit dough one can
  • 12 tablespoons butter 1½ sticks
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup pecan pieces toasted

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  2. Separate the biscuits from the can and cut each biscuit into six pieces.
  3. In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar until combined, then remove from the heat and set aside.
  4. Pour half of the melted butter mixture into the bowl with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  5. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Toss each biscuit piece in the cinnamon sugar mixture, then place them onto the skillet in a single layer.
  7. Pour the other half of the brown sugar-butter mixture over the top of the biscuits.
  8. Cook the biscuits until they have risen and are golden brown, approximately 25 minutes.
  9. Remove from the heat and sprinkle with toasted pecan pieces. Enjoy!
