Ingredients
- 1 kg octopus fresh or thawed
- 0 liters water
- 0 salt
- 1 tomato ripe, diced
- 0.5 red onion chopped
- 1 habanero pepper finely chopped
- 0.5 cup cilantro chopped
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 kg octopus cooked and cooled
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 kg octopus sliced
- 0.5 tsp lemon zest
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 tomato used in sauce
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the octopus and cook for 20 minutes per kilogram of octopus, until it is tender.
- While the octopus is cooking, prepare the citrus sauce by mixing the diced ripe tomato, chopped red onion, finely chopped habanero pepper, chopped cilantro, lemon zest, lime juice, salt, and olive oil.
- Once the octopus is cooked, let it cool completely. Cut the tentacles into serving-sized portions.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over high heat. Lightly oil the surface and grill the octopus pieces until they are slightly charred, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve the grilled octopus with a generous spoonful of citrus sauce on top. Sprinkle with a little additional lemon zest and salt if desired.
