Miso Butter Japanese Sweet Potato

Miso Butter Japanese Sweet Potato

Ingredients

  • 2 whole japanese sweet potato
  • 2 pieces aluminum foil
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 tablespoon miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 batch miso butter mixture
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Using a fork, poke holes all around each Japanese sweet potato.
  3. Wrap each Japanese sweet potato in aluminum foil.
  4. Place the wrapped potatoes on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until tender.
  5. In a small bowl, soften 3 tablespoons of salted butter and mix with 1 tablespoon miso paste and 1 tablespoon brown sugar until well combined.
  6. Preheat another oven or adjust the temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Once baked, carefully unwrap the sweet potatoes and cut them open lengthwise.
  8. Spread a generous amount of miso butter mixture on the opened sweet potatoes.
  9. Optional: Top each potato with a handful of mozzarella cheese.
  10. Place the sweet potatoes back into the oven at 375°F (190°C) until the cheese has melted, about 5-7 minutes.
  11. Torch or broil the sweet potatoes for 30 seconds until the cheese is bubbly.
