Miso Butter Japanese Sweet Potato
A deliciously savory-sweet dish combining miso butter with baked Japanese sweet potatoes, finished with optional mozzarella topping for extra meltiness.

Ingredients
- 2 whole japanese sweet potato
- 2 pieces aluminum foil
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 tablespoon miso paste
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 batch miso butter mixture
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Using a fork, poke holes all around each Japanese sweet potato.
- Wrap each Japanese sweet potato in aluminum foil.
- Place the wrapped potatoes on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until tender.
- In a small bowl, soften 3 tablespoons of salted butter and mix with 1 tablespoon miso paste and 1 tablespoon brown sugar until well combined.
- Preheat another oven or adjust the temperature to 375°F (190°C).
- Once baked, carefully unwrap the sweet potatoes and cut them open lengthwise.
- Spread a generous amount of miso butter mixture on the opened sweet potatoes.
- Optional: Top each potato with a handful of mozzarella cheese.
- Place the sweet potatoes back into the oven at 375°F (190°C) until the cheese has melted, about 5-7 minutes.
- Torch or broil the sweet potatoes for 30 seconds until the cheese is bubbly.
