Classic Mac & Cheese
A comforting and familiar dish of macaroni and cheese, with a twist of caramelized onions and garlic.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Macaroni
- 5 cloves Garlic
- 1 medium Onion
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 2 tbsp Water
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 1 tbsp Plain flour
- 1 cup Milk
- 3 slices Cheese slices
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 1 tsp Oregano
- 1 to taste Salt
- 1 cup Macaroni
Instructions
- Cook macaroni as per package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a pan, heat oil and sauté garlic and sliced onion until golden brown.
- Add 2 tbsp water to deglaze, cook for a few more seconds, then blend into a smooth paste (yields ~1/4 cup).
- In the same pan, melt butter and add flour. Cook for 30 seconds on low flame, stirring continuously.
- Gradually pour in milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens to a creamy consistency.
- Add the onion paste, cheese slices, black pepper, oregano, and salt if needed. Stir until smooth and melted.
- Add the cooked macaroni, mix well, and let it simmer for 1–2 minutes.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
