- 2.25 teaspoons Rapid Rise yeast
- 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- 2 whole jalapeños
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 large egg
- 6 tablespoons salted butter
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 to taste flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Combine 3 1/2 - 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 1/4 teaspoons of Rapid Rise yeast, and 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt in a large bowl.
- Add 2 cups of grated cheddar cheese and 1-2 chopped jalapeños (seeded if desired) to the bowl and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of warm whole milk, 3 tablespoons of honey, 4 tablespoons of salted butter at room temperature, and 1 large egg. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic, then let it rise until it has doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Let them rise again until they have doubled in size.
- Bake the rolls in a preheated oven until they are golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the honey butter by combining 6 tablespoons of salted butter at room temperature and 3 tablespoons of honey.
- Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and immediately brush them with the honey butter. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt to taste.
