Ingredients
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
- 0.5 tsp Red Chili Flakes
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 cup Panko BreadCrumbs
- 0.25 cup Milk or Sour Cream
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 1 lb Ground Pork
- 5 cloves Garlic
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese
- 3 tbsp Parsley
- 3 Basil Leaves
- 1 Whole Shallot
- 28 oz San Marzano Tomatoes
- 5 cloves Garlic
- 1 Small Onion
- 2 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 2 tsp Onion Powder
- 0.5 tsp Red Chili Flakes
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 0.25 cup Pinot Grigio
- 1 pinch Salt
- 4 Basil Leaves
- 1 optional Parmesan
- 4 Sub rolls or Hoagie rolls
- 1 as needed Mozzarella Cheese Slices
Instructions
- Prepare the meatballs. In a large bowl, combine the onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, black pepper, red chili flakes, salt, panko breadcrumbs, milk or sour cream, ground beef, ground pork, minced garlic, eggs, parmesan cheese, parsley, basil leaves, and whole shallot. Mix until well combined.
- Prepare the marinara sauce. In a large saucepan, combine the San Marzano tomatoes, garlic, small onion, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, red chili flakes, sugar, black pepper, olive oil, unsalted butter, tomato paste, Pinot Grigio (optional), salt, basil leaves, and parmesan (optional). Cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens.
- Assemble the subs. Slice the sub rolls or hoagie rolls and place a layer of mozzarella cheese slices on each. Top with the prepared meatballs and marinara sauce.
