Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Cook time: 30 minutes

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger minced
  • 0.25 cup oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 0 cooked white rice for serving
  • 0 sesame seeds optional, for garnish
  • 0 green onions optional, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the sliced beef with cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Let it marinate for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 4-5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining vegetable oil. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add garlic and ginger to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds. Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth, stirring until combined. Bring to a simmer and let the sauce thicken for 2 minutes.
  5. Return the beef and broccoli to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until heated through. Serve over steamed rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
