Spiced Apple Cider

Cook time: 30 minutes

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 2 liters apple cider
  • 3 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 10 pieces whole cloves
  • 5 pieces allspice berries
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg ground
  • 1 whole orange sliced, peel included
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 6 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 1 whole orange sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine 2 liters of apple cider, 3 cinnamon sticks, 10 whole cloves, 5 allspice berries, and 0.5 teaspoon of ground nutmeg. Ingredients are combined in the pot
  2. Add 1 sliced orange with peel included to the pot and stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar if desired for added sweetness. Adjust the sugar based on personal preference for sweetness. Orange slices are added and sugar is dissolved
  3. Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for 30 minutes. Cider is steaming and aromatic
  4. After simmering, remove the pot from heat. Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the cider into a serving container, discarding the solids. Cider is strained and clear
  5. Serve the spiced apple cider warm in mugs. Optionally, garnish with additional cinnamon sticks or slices of orange. Cider is served and ready to enjoy
