Vanilla Maple Iced Coffee

This iced coffee blends hot brewed coffee with vanilla and maple syrup, then chills it over ice with milk for a smooth, lightly sweet drink. The syrup is dissolved in the hot coffee first so the flavor is integrated rather than settling at the bottom.

Vanilla Maple Iced Coffee

Cook time: 10 minutes

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 720 ml Brewed coffee hot and strong, brewed from ground coffee
  • 60 ml Maple syrup none
  • 10 ml Vanilla extract none
  • 0.5 g Fine salt optional, for balancing sweetness
  • 480 g Ice for serving
  • 480 ml Milk cold

Instructions

  1. Brew 720 ml strong coffee. While it is still hot, stir in 60 ml maple syrup, 10 ml vanilla extract, and 0.5 g fine salt if using until fully dissolved. The maple is fully dissolved and the coffee smells evenly of vanilla.
  2. Let the coffee cool for about 5 minutes, then divide 480 g ice evenly among 4 glasses and pour the coffee mixture over the ice. The coffee begins chilling immediately and each glass is partly filled with ice and coffee.
  3. Add 480 ml milk in total, dividing it evenly among the 4 glasses, or stir it into the pitcher first for a more uniform drink, then serve right away. The drink looks creamy and pale brown, with no unmixed syrup visible.
