Chicken Shawarma
A delicious recipe for Chicken Shawarma with a flavorful marinade and butter glaze, cooked using an air fryer or oven.

Ingredients
- 5 chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
- 3 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sumac
- 5 garlic cloves minced
- 1 lemon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 lemon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 0.5 large onion
- 1 serving rice or pita
Instructions
- Pre soak 2 wooden skewers in hot water for 20 minutes.
- Trim the chicken thighs of fat.
- Add all of the chicken marinade ingredients. Mix and massage well. Use right away or marinate for 30 minutes or more.
- Air fry at 390 degrees F for 22-25 minutes depending on your air fryer. Flip half way through brushing on the butter glaze. Before and after flipping the chicken. You can also oven bake at 400 degrees F for about 25 minutes. Keep an eye so it does not overcook and dry out the chicken.
- Remove and push on the half an onion for a base and baste with glaze one more time.
- Cut with a sharp knife into thin slices.
- Serve over rice or in a hot pita.
