Cranberry Mint Sparkler

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 30 ml water for rinsing mint if needed
  • 12 g fresh mint leaves plus extra sprigs for garnish
  • 60 ml lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 480 ml cranberry juice chilled
  • 600 g ice for serving
  • 4 g fresh mint leaves plus extra sprigs for garnish
  • 8 each lime slices for garnish
  • 480 ml soda water chilled

Instructions

  1. If needed, rinse the mint under the optional water and pat dry. Lightly bruise 12 g of the mint leaves in the bottom of a pitcher with the lime juice to release aroma without shredding the leaves. Mint looks slightly darker and fragrant; lime juice is aromatic.
  2. Add the cranberry juice and stir to combine. Chill in the pitcher for 2 minutes if the ingredients were not already cold. The mixture is evenly tinted deep red.
  3. Fill 4 glasses with 150 g ice each, then divide the remaining 4 g mint leaves among the glasses along with 2 lime slices per glass. Glasses are cold and garnished.
  4. Just before serving, pour in the soda water and stir gently once or twice to preserve the bubbles. Divide the drink evenly among the glasses. The sparkler is lightly effervescent and not flat.
