Spiced Apple and Pecan Crumble with Maple Whipped Cream

Cook time: 45 minutes

Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 6 cups apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 0.5 cup pecans chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Transfer the apple mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish or similar oven-proof dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Add cold butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in chopped pecans.
  3. Sprinkle the pecan crumble evenly over the spiced apple mixture. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  4. In a medium bowl, whip heavy cream with maple syrup and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  5. Allow the crumble to cool slightly before serving. Top each serving with a dollop of maple whipped cream and enjoy the warm, spiced apples with crunchy pecan topping and creamy whipped cream.
